Exhibition + Curatorial Design
From designing the invite to curating the space, it was an incredible experience putting together my first solo show, Friendly Neighbors.
I’ve always envisioned my pieces to live amongst the creatures that forms them, because the setting in which they live in is an extension of the their personalities. So, I’ve created printed vinyl decals to bring a little bit of their world to the gallery.
Almost all curated pieces were illustrations I’ve made during the first year I worked in Chicago. Moving to a new city, I barely knew anyone— but thankfully there were friendly neighbors who made me feel I wasn’t so alone (hence the name of the show). A lot of my characters who live in-between its world and our own, come from the personalities I encountered during that journey. As time passed I drew more characters, hoping there are even more friendly, peculiar creatures tucked in the very best corners of the city—waiting for me to go meet them.
